Research and Writing

So far, I only have one research project available in HTML format.

In the Spring semester of 1997, I took a paper seminar course at South Texas College of Law. The topic was Art Law and I decided to research an area that relates to one of my hobbies:  photography.

Reading in the photography newsgroups on USENET such as rec.photo.misc and rec.photo.technique.people, I noticed a steadily recurring theme. More than a handful of posts were asking, "When do I need a model release?"

The answers were often vague, short, and contradictory. The topic seemed prime for a research project so I delved beyond the brief responses on USENET and into the law that gives rise to model releases. The end result is this paper.

While my research is by no means intended to be a substitute for legal counsel, I hope I have provided a useful resource for people who are seeking more than cursory answers to their questions about model releases.
